Thingster MCP Server

Manage all your Thingster posts directly from your favorite AI agent. Thingster hosts a native Model Context Protocol (MCP) server at https://thingster.app/mcp so agents like Claude Desktop, Claude Code, Cursor, Windsurf, and Antigravity can draft, schedule, publish, reply to threads, and organize your spaces on your behalf.

1. What Your AI Agent Can Do

Instead of copy-pasting between your AI assistant and your browser, connect your agent directly to Thingster's hosted MCP server. No local Node.js binary or Docker container is required—Thingster serves MCP natively over HTTPS.

  • Draft, Publish & Schedule Posts: Ask your agent to write a new article, note, or announcement and publish it immediately or schedule it for a future ISO-8601 timestamp.
  • Read & Reply to Threads: Have your agent summarize active community discussions with getThread and post thoughtful replies using createThing with parentId.
  • Manage Organizations & Spaces: List all identities and topic spaces you belong to and target specific spaces when publishing or browsing.
  • Monitor Feeds & Curate Posts: Browse your personalized feed, check Featured and Trending stories, like posts, or clean up old drafts and posts with deleteThing.
Example Agent Prompts:
• "Publish a new post to my primary Thingster space summarizing today's release notes with tags #ai and #release."
• "Schedule a Thingster post for tomorrow at 9am UTC announcing our new podcast episode."
• "Fetch my Thingster feed, summarize the top 3 threads, and draft a reply to the most active discussion."

2. Quickstart & API Key

Thingster MCP authenticates requests using your personal Thingster API key.

Step 1

Generate an API Key

Go to Account Settings → API Keys and create a new key (e.g., Cursor or Claude Desktop). Your key is automatically pre-filled in the MCP config generator on that page.

Step 2

Add Thingster to Your MCP Client

Copy the configuration snippet for your AI client below (or from your Settings page). You can pass your key via the Authorization: Bearer <YOUR_API_KEY> header, x-api-key header, or ?token=<YOUR_API_KEY> query parameter.

Step 3

Start Managing Posts with Your Agent

Restart or refresh your MCP client and ask your agent to list your Thingster organizations, read your feed, or publish a new post.
